Trauma and Acute Care Surgery – Our Mission

The Team

The Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery functions as a true acute care model; the surgeons in the division provide the full spectrum of care for trauma, emergency general surgery, and critically ill surgical patients. All surgeons in the division have completed fellowships in trauma and surgical critical care, and are thus board-certified “intensivists”. In summary, the division cares for all patients at ECU Health Medical Center who are have been injured, burned, have emergent general surgery conditions, and who require advanced critical care in the surgical intensive care unit. In addition to clinical care, the surgeons of the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery came to the Brody School of Medicine to serve as educators and scientists, and are committed to the education of a wide spectrum of learners, and conducting high quality research. Our mission is therefore invested in a foundation of clinical care, education, and research.
