Surgical Residency – Simulation and Skills Training

Simulation and skills sessions complement the didactics and clinical experience. An intern boot camp reviews operative fundamental skills and intro to the lap trainer. Skill sessions on bowel anastomosis, vascular anastomosis, and other technical training are held throughout the year. Our robotics curriculum incorporates both online, simulation lab, and clinical patient instruction. Additional skills training includes:

Facilities for simulation include the ECU Clinical Simulation Center, ECU Health Medical Center’s Center for Learning and Performance, the Robotics Simulation Lab at East Carolina Heart Institute, and more.
